Ever since the landmark bankruptcy reform law, consumers are having a much harder time filing for bankruptcy. While you still can file for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you will have a hard time filing for Chapter 7 right off the back. Instead you’ll more than likely be forced to pay your bills under Chapter 13 before they will allow you to completely wipe them out under Chap 7.
While this not always the case, this is what happens most of the time.
If you can pay your bills, you will have a difficult time filing for bankruptcy. We do not recommend even considering bankruptcy unless you’ve been able to speak with a credit counselor and a Sarasota bankruptcy lawyer.
They will be able to sort through this legal jungle and get you back on the path to recovery.
This is not legal advice.
